New Prague Škoda 52T Trams Receive Homologation and Type Approval

15. 10. 2025

Prague, 15 October 2025 – The Škoda ForCity Plus 52T trams intended for Prague have successfully completed the type approval and homologation process. The fully low-floor vehicles of Škoda’s latest tram generation passed all technical tests and completed the required 20,000 kilometres without passengers as well as an additional 20,000 kilometres with passengers. This has brought their handover to Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) and deployment into regular operation one step closer. There are currently 13 Škoda 52T trams at DPP’s Hloubětín Depot, while the remaining seven vehicles are in an advanced stage of production. Under the contract, Škoda Group will deliver them no later than at the beginning of December this year, i.e. only two years after the contract signing. The vehicles themselves obtained homologation in just 22 months. Before entering regular passenger service, each vehicle must receive an operational approval certificate from the Czech Rail Authority.
