Quality Development

Prague Public Transit Co.'s main process is public passenger transport. A number of related support activities that significantly affect the satisfaction of our customers - passengers are connected to this process.

We have been granted six quality management certificates, five of them according to the ISO 9001 standard and one certificate according to the EN 13816 standard. The requirements of these standards are regularly verified by external certification bodies.

Year Activity


Initial implementation of the first quality management system at the Tram Repair Depot.


Start of our membership in the Czech Society for Quality.


Establishment of a Service Quality Programme as a tool for measuring the quality of public passenger transport services.


Received the first quality management certificate according to the former ISO 9002 standard for the Tram Repair Depot. This was not only first certificate, but also the first certificate granted in public passenger transport in the Czech Republic.


Joined the Quality Club (CYQUAL) set up in Paris together with transit operators RATP Paris, STIB Brussels, Geneva and TPG Metro Madrid.
The Central Bus Workshops were certified according to the former ISO 9002 standard.


Certification according to the ISO 9001 standard for following activities: purchase, storage and issuance of spare parts, products and clothes in the Supplies Unit.


MOT (Technical Inspection Station) No. 31.03 obtained a certificate according to the ISO 9001 standard as required by Act No. 56/2001 Coll., on conditions for vehicle operation on roads.
Certification of the first metro line - line C - according to the ISO 9001 standard for the „Public Transportation“ process in the Metro Operation Unit.


Extension of certification per the ISO 9001 standard to metro line A.
Certification of all three metro lines (A, B, C) for the „Public Passenger Transport" according to the EN 13816 standard for the Metro Operation Unit. This was the first certificate of its kind granted in the Czech Republic.


Certification of metro line B according to the ISO 9001 standard for the main „Public Passenger Transport" process completed certification of all three metro lines.


Obtaining of certificate according to EN 13816 standard with an German accreditation body;
Quality management systems modification according to revised standard ISO 9001:2008;
End of collective membership in the Czech Society for Quality (instead of individual membership);


Change of certified body in 3 DPP units: the Central Bus Workshops, the Supplies Unit and the Technical Inspection Station, which are certified together with Metro Operation Unit according to ISO 9001:2008.
Measuring of two new quality standards in the areas of safety and environmental impact.


Change of certified body in the Tram Repair Depot Unit which is certified according to ISO 9001:2008.


Extension of the quality management system for the „Public Passenger Trasport“ process including busses, trams, the funicular and other processes needed for this system, e.g. Transport planning, Dispatching control, Creation of timetables, Informing the public and also the Public Transport Museum.


Certification of public passenger transport by tramways, busses and furnicular and operation of the Transport Museum according to the ISO 9001 and EN 13816 standards.


Certification of ensuring the serviceability of metro transport facilities according to the ISO 9001:2015 standard; recertification of the current activities according the new ISO 9001:2015 standard reguierements; recertification of the Public passenger transport by metro, tramways, buses and furnicular according to the 13816 standard.
