Permanent Changes to the Prague Integrated Transport System Valid from 14 June 2009

As of the national date of timetable amendment, 14 June 2009, the operation of the Prague Integrated Transport System ("PID") will be modified. Changes will affect both bus trafficand the suburban railway transport.

The most significant changes will take place in the southeastern segment, where a new model of bus transportwill be implemented. The main reason underlying the changes affecting the Kamenice, Průhonice, Říčany and Uhříněves areas is an attempt to simplify and make more lucid the routes of individual bus lines, accelerate some lines, enable the passengers to select more connecting lines, and improve the possibility to change lines.

Kamenice Area

  • Acceleration of lines 332, 335, 337 and 339, achieved by cancellation of minor stops inside the City of Prague territory, or by changing the character of some stops to become request stops.
  • Strengthened line 337 in the segment Budějovická – KameniceKamenice by transfer of buses from the cancelled lines 334 and 369 and strengthening line 339 along the entire route Budějovická – Týnec nad Sázavou on business days.
  • Extended line 444 will provide connection Kamenice – Pohoří – Jílové u Prahy and offer a new direct connection between the left Vltava river bank and the Kamenice area.

Průhonice and Čestlice Area

  • Strengthened line 363 that will take over units from cancelled line 324 will serve Újezd near Průhonice.
  • Šeberov will be served by strengthened line 385 that will take over connections from line 325.
  • Dolní Lomnice and Mirošovice will be newly served by line 463 in connection with railway at Strančice and shortened line 363 in Velké Popovice.

Říčany and Uhříněves Area

  • Municipal transport in Říčany will be provided by lines 303, 385 and 428 instead of lines 497, 498 and 499; servicing the Říčany railway station area will be modified; thanks to extension of lines 303 and 428 Říčany will now have direct connection to almost all neighbouring settlements.
  • To shorten the connection to Prague from Doubek, Babice, Strašín and Pacov, line 364 will now pass the industrial and shopping zone Říčany.
  • Křenice, Královice and Hájek will be now served by new line 366, some selected connections in peak hours on business days will be extended to stop Březí, Podskalí; to improve the efficiency of operation all connections of lines 266 and 366 will now pass Hájek, thus replacing cancelled lines 264 and 364.

Additional changes concern railways. Stage 2 of railway closure starts on lines S5 and R5 (Praha - Kladno - Rakovník). Trains from Kladno that currently end in station Praha - Dejvice, will end in a new, temporary stop Praha - Gymnazijní close to the Metro station Dejvická. Owing to a closure and the ensuing shifts of fast trains on the line to Plzeň all passenger trains on line S7 (Praha - Beroun) will be also shifted on line Praha - Beroun as well as on some connected lines. The above will result in time shifts of the connected bus lines in the Černošice, Dobřichovice, Řevnice and Radotín areas.

Several new bus stations will be established in Prague and its surroundings:

  • Jirny, Logistický park (request stop, line 398),
  • Jirny, rozc. (request stop, line 398),
  • K Netlukám (request stop, lines 266, 366),
  • Lety, Na Návsi (normal stop, line 451),
  • Nupaky, hotel (normal stop, line 385),
  • Oleška, Brník, u rybníka (normal stop, line 402).

Changes in railway traffic (lines S)

Starting on 14 June 2009 several modifications will affect railway traffic inside the Prague Integrated Transport System. Modifications are related primarily to closures necessary on some lines:

  • Stage 2 of closure necessary owing to continuing build-up of the tunnel complex 'Blanka' will affect lines S5 and R5 (Praha – Kladno – Rakovník). The closure will end on 31 July 2009:

Trains from Kladno will mostly end at the temporary stop Praha-Gymnasijnípassengers can continue to the City by Metro or tram. The temporary stop is situated some 300 metres from the western outlet of the Metro station Dejvická. The walking distance to Metro is shorter here than that at the Praha - Dejvice station, where trains stopped finally in stage 1. The access routes to the new temporary stop are marked. The mitigating tariff measures introduced in stage 1 remain in effect (extended validity of some selected time coupons and the option to travel with the railway tickets across some selected Metro and tram segments). The time schedules of trains on lines S5 and R5 remain more or less unchanged; nevertheless, new closure-related time-tables will be issued and made available to passengers free of charge inside trains, at railway stations and Metro stations. During the first several days of the closure officials will be present onsite to assist passengers.

  • As a result of the commencing long-term closure on segment Beroun – Plzeň it was necessary to shift the times of trains also on line S7 (Praha – Beroun) and on some connected lines:

Specifically, on line S7 times have been shifted at either direction by some 5 minutes. The number of trains in the new time-table remains the same, but some trains have been extended to Karlštejn and we also succeeded in making more regular the inter-train interval in the segment Prague main station - Řevnice during the peak hours of business days. Owing to this significant change ROPId will issue, in collaboration with Czech Railways, an updated time table on cards, valid for the aforementioned area and made available free of charge at some selected railway stations on the affected line.
