In order to reduce the noise level inconveniencing people living close to tram lines, Dopravní podnik, in co-operation with an external contractor, undertakes periodic grinding of rails. Grinding of rails represents at present the most efficient and fastest measure reducing noise and vibrations caused by tram traffic and, consequently, increasing travelling comfort.
Traffic restrictions due to rails grinding have been planned taking into account maximum utilisation of the grinding machine and maximum shortening of its impact on the tram traffic. Accordingly, work will take place overnight or during hours of minimum traffic (and, naturally, making maximum use of the already scheduled traffic restrictions).
