Prague Public Transit Co. signs an addendum to the collective agreement guaranteeing growth in employee wages

Prague, 29th June 2012 – The management of the Prague Public Transit Co. (PPT) and union organizations active within the PPT today signed an addendum to the collective agreement for the three-year period 2012-2015.

Negotiations with union organizations proceeded at a record pace, taking only three months. The most important negotiating point was growth in scale wages. Wages will already increase starting 1 July 2012, by one percent. In the next year, wages will grow by 3 percent, but only as of 1 May 2013. In 2014 and 2015, wage growth will be pegged to the rate of inflation, to which 0.7% will be added in 2014 and 1% in 2015.

“This is another positive, successful step for the new management team. It gives it needed calmness to address operational matters, and sends a clear signal that employees and management are on the same side,” stated mayor Bohuslav Svoboda.

“The agreement with unions on a three-year period will ensure our employees good pay and a stable work environment. Aside from the base wage, we also increased a key benefit, supplementary pension insurance,” stated Vladimír Lich, general manager of the Prague Public Transit Co.

According to the addendum to the collective agreement, the supplementary pension insurance contribution will increase to a monthly maximum of 850 CZK per employee.

The average monthly wage for PPT employees in 2011 was 29,735 CZK. In 2011, the PPT paid a total of 3.96 billion CZK in wages. Last year the Prague Public Transit Co. brought in a similar amount in fares, where revenues were around 4.5 billion.
