Each year, operation of the Prague Integrated Transit system is adapted to meet changed transit demand. This year, from 28 June to 29 August 2008 inclusive, the scope of changes will be smaller compared to past years, especially for tram and bus service.
Metro service will be reduced by around 15% on workdays, tram service during peak times on workdays by about 20%, and bus service by about 15%. Saturday and Sunday service will remain virtually unchanged.
Metro service will not be reduced during early morning and evening hours on workdays as well as all of Saturday and Sunday. Service will be reduced only during peak times on workdays on all lines, and the morning lull will be reduced only slightly on Line C. Compared to past years, the problem with zone service on Line B has been satisfactorily resolved. Similarly as during full operation, in force from 1 February 2008, zone service will be cancelled during the summer holidays as well, so all trains will travel the entire Zličín – Černý Most route. On Line A during workdays from approx. 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., only every second train will travel the stretch Skalka – Depo Hostivař.
No tram lines will be cancelled due to summer holiday service; during peak times on workdays, all daytime lines will have their intervals increased from 8 to 10 minutes (on Line 9 from 4 to 5 minutes). During other times, intervals will remain unchanged.
Tram routes will depend on service interruptions or restrictions currently in effect. During the summer holidays, there will be no service in the following stretches:
Selected lines will operate according to summertime timetables (service reductions especially during transit peaks on workdays). Compared to last year, service will remain practically the same on Saturdays and Sundays. During the morning lull on workdays, less lines will have service reductions. On the contrary, Line 114 will run more often in the stretch Kačerov – Šeberák. Lines 143, 277, 305, school lines and designated school connections of other lines will not be in service. Line 359 will not stop at the Suchdol stop. The Elišky Přemyslovny stop will not be in service (for Lines 129, 241, 243, and 318).
In July and August, the train tracks between Smíchov Station and Hlavní nádraží will not be in service. Substitute transit service will be provided by the metro and trams. During the time of the service interruption, a special tram, Line 34, will take the following route: Hlubočepy – Smíchovské nádraží – Karlovo náměstí – Jindřišská – Těšnov – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Výstaviště.
