Fare in suburban transport

In terms of tariff the area of the City of Prague is divided into two zones, i.e. P and 0 (in total the area of Prague is counted as 4 tariff zones). Zone P has a double tariff value; Zone 0 is divided into Zones 0 and B – a border stops zone.

The area surrounding the City of Prague is divided to seven outlying zones (i.e. Zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7). Suburban connections depart from Zone 0, while this zone also comprises Zone B – a border stops zone.

In terms of individual tickets, Zones 0 and B are counted independently, i.e. as two tariff zones.

In terms of prepaid time tickets, Zones 0 and B are counted as a single zone and are identified as Zone 0.

Classification of stations and stops within tariff zones is provided in timetables.

The quoted ticket prices are inclusive of VAT 15%. Fare and travel information within the PID system are provided as guidance only; more details can be found in an up-dated full wording of the PID Tariff (available in the Download Files box).

The information concerning the sales of fixed paper coupons for a fixed calendar period is listed here.

The information concerning the procedure for obtaining a simplified tax document for a ticket purchased in vending machines, metro operators and drivers of urban and suburban bus lines operated by the Prague Public Transit Company can be found here.

Starting on the 1st of September 2018, nationwide fare discounts are introduced for children, students and senior citizens in suburban transport. A 75% discount on full fare will be now provided in suburban PID buses for children and juniors of between 6 and 18 years of age, for students of between 18 and 26 years of age and for senior citizens of between 65 and 70 years of age. This discount will be provided on both individual and prepaid fares, both in outlying (outside of Prague) zones and in Prague 0 and B zones.

To prove the entitlement for this nationwide discount, a proof of age will be sufficient (the PID card, a student card, an ID card or a passport, for example), while students of between 18 and 26 year of age will be required to present their ISIC card, a student card or the PID card together with the certificate of study to prove their entitlement for the discount. This discount replaces the student fare in suburban transport. For travelling in Prague, the age limit between Junior and Student categories is shifting from 19 to 18 years of age, which in fact means the need to also provide the proof of study for eighteen-year-olds if they wish to travel for a discounted prepaid fare.
